Semillas is a community-based initiative that draws inspiration from the concepts of seed dispersal and cultural exchange between the diverse communities in this case Porto (Serralves Foundation )and Tenerife (TEA). The project engages participants from specific age groups in both locations through a series of writing workshops, where they will craft their own myths of liberation. These narratives will then be interpreted by participants in the opposite location through workshops focused on puppetry and storytelling.
The culmination of these creative workshops will result in two interconnected components: a large, body-sized costume representing a plant (the macro component) and a series of smaller puppets that will perform within this plant costume (the micro component).
The macro component comes to life when all participants come together as "plants," forming a vibrant garden that can invade or interact with urban spaces, reclaiming areas for nature amidst the encroaching concrete landscape.
Once the "plants" disperse into the city, the micro component is activated. Participants will embody their individual stories through puppet shows, allowing them to express their unique narratives while engaging with their surroundings.
Through this dual approach, Semillas fosters a rich dialogue between cultures and generations, creating a dynamic interplay between collective identity and personal expression. Hoping to create a message of the power of memory and community.
