Bozar, in partnership with Art Brussels, invites Belgian dancer and choreographer Nick Coutsier for a Film & Performance evening to mark the release of his first film, VOLT. The evening will start with travelling performance that will bring the audience into the theatre to discover VOLT at its national premiere, followed by a selection of films exploring the relationship between cinema and performance.
VOLT explores the physical language of a body in revolt. The protagonist resists the limitations imposed upon it — a relentless movement towards liberation. VOLT is the force that propels the body from survival to self-expression, where security and vulnerability merge in the vibrant power of a black, queer body, which through its movement and energy invites the surrounding bodies to their own emancipation.
Nick Coutsier is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores the body as a space of resistance, vulnerability, and emancipation. Through movement, he examines the notions of Black fugitivity, queer identity, and freedom, connecting intimate experiences with broader cultural narratives. His work unfolds at the intersection of dance, film, and performance, as reflected in his project VOLT.
